Dear Colleagues, Friends, Students and Sponsors
It is my pleasure to extend an invitation to all the world’s great scientists, academicians, researchers, doctors, and students. It is both an honor and a pleasure for me to provide a platform to a multidisciplinary group of scientists and researchers from around the world where they can share and discuss ground-breaking ideas in the fields of public health, technology, education, and management sciences.
Prosperity and dignified life for all humans around the world have never been easy to achieve, and the COVID-19 pandemic has undermined the progress made on sustainable development. It poses a significant challenge to the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda as there has been a rise in extreme poverty, inequalities, and injustice across the globe. However, the world, as we know it, ground to a halt and slowly it is starting to turn again. We are at a right time to shape the future. Changing the world requires courage to enact fundamental reforms that will improve life for every person on this planet and the ability to work together to create global frameworks and global solutions.
The holistic approach of Building Back Better (BBB) has been described in the United Nations’ Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction document, which was agreed upon at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction March 2015, Sendai, Japan. A central dimension of BBB is the need for a people-centred recovery that focuses on well-being, improves resilience and inclusiveness, and reduces inequality. Emphasizing other elements that improve well-being, such as income, job quality, housing, and health, is essential to achieve this (OECD, 2020).
The world is facing a period of fundamental change and challenge, and I consider BBB is a call of hope. The world is still struggling to come to terms with the pandemic that has affected every corner of the Earth. To reconstruct and build back a society requires resources and strengths. But to Build Back Better requires other ingredients: UNITY and COURAGE. This is not the time for incremental improvements or tinkering at the edges. This is the moment for bold ideas, bold commitment, and bold leadership; for doing things that have never been done before.
The aim of this conference is to gather experts and share benchmarking on how to create a better future for all. We hope to see you online or perhaps in person from December 9 to December 10, 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Even if we are physically apart, we are still together as a community, connected by a shared passion of BBB together for Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Recovery from the pandemic.
